Thoughts on Friends....

Sometimes I feel that these *fake* friends I find on the internet understand me more than many who have known me for years. I suppose this might be because you can choose to connect with who you like on the net. It might also be because I have grown and am now a different person than I was when I made friends with the others. It's sad, though, when old friendships die. There are a few in particular I keep hoping will be rekindled, like those coals from last night's bonfire that spark again in the morning when you toss a log on... but that doesn't mean I'm willing to do all the work. Friendships aren't meant to be one-sided. People have been fake. Fake friends have been real. I've connected with those I never thought I might. Life is a true mystery, a whirlwind roller coaster and I am along for the ride. So much for a poem a day. Here's to random thoughts, renewal, love and connection- wherever we find it.
Inspired by this quote: “If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again.” -Flavia Weedn Failure is Not... By Jaden Brulotte 8/22/08 Shattered like glass, the splinters scattered like stones cast to the ocean and rubbed the wrong way, to dull its sharpness Strewn like driftwood, my dream has wilted, color faded to gray because you took it away... If I was to get lost in the shadows, the darkness of trees lingering in the limbs, the leafs like lonely soldiers crunching beneath my feet I would be forgotten, left behind like these seaweed wigs haunted toupees from the depths which could be me. But I will begin again, I will find a piece that fits in this jungle mess puzzle, my goal will be remembered treasure amongst the rubble, the ship has not sailed and I have not, have not yet, begun to fail.
Ten Sticky Fingers By Jaden Brulotte 8-13-08 Ten sticky fingers reaching up at me dragging red fruit concoction across my white-white shirt but it doesn't matter when you gap-toothed grin at me... To be so young to be so innocent to be so vulnerable so trusting so ambivalent to what happens in the world while you explore, you remember, you soak up experiences like a sponge. you say hi you say bye-bye and today, you said "I love you". To melt my heart with three little words. To me- to be your guardian like those angels they say dangle overhead, they say watching, they say keeping us safe... It's the most important job that I will ever have- to tend to care to love and be there to hold your hand... and yes, even to say "NO" to shelter you from being hurt, to keep you from falling, like those tears that drip from the corners of your eyes when I say it, but someday you will understand... Someday, I will watch

Poetry Type of The Day: Monoryhme A Monorhyme is a poem in which all the lines have the same end rhyme. Inspired by this quote: " Dreams are the touchstones of our character." - Henry David Thoreau Protecting the Dream By Jaden Brulotte 5/19/08 Where would you be without a dream? Without a hope, a wish, a scheme? How much duller and boring your life would seem Without that shine in your eyes to leave your face agleam. There’s nothing in the world that one could deem Of more importance than protecting your dream If anyone dares to begin to blaspheme, Be patient, someday you will be redeemed. By holding your hopes in the highest esteem You become master of your fate; Queen of your own regime.
Poetry Type of the Day: Didactic Didactic Poetry is a form of poetry intended for instruction such as for knowledge or to teach. Inspired by this quote: ♫ "If there is no wind, row." -Latin Proverb You Must Row By Jaden Brulotte 5/14/2008 One can’t sit back and say “I’ll just float through this day” And expect everyone to respect him. No matter how slow If there’s no wind, you must row With full strength from all of your limbs. When you’re in a still boat, Although you’re afloat, There’s no place to go without you. No matter how slow, If there’s no wind, you must row This alone will be what gets you through. So stop staring at shore Wishing life would carry you more, Wondering when things will get easy. No matter how slow, If there’s no wind, you must row And soon, you will find it is breezy.
Poetry Type of the Day: Kyrielle A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB. In a world where sin is what sells best And condemnation's said in jest Caring, love and truth can ease Compassion, nature's remedy. Untitled 5/3/2008 By Jaden Brulotte A man has learned his faulty ways But cannot find his way back out He spends his nights and all his days Wondering what real life's about. Torturous Talent- 4/30/2008

Torturous Talent By Jaden Brulotte 4/30/2008 My torturous talent pushes me down into my chest, pushing NOs, pushing FAILs And can’t can’t can’ts My pen drips these salty, invisible ink -tears- these aching, painful welts I have let sit and fester on my soul telling myself there is no point Telling myself What good are you? What are you worth when you can’t value your own words? When you have no influence, no pride, no motivation? What are you worth? My torturous talent, it's been archived… I snuck it away to the vaults So I can’t look and see the big red-lettered lines *FAIL FAIL FAIL* each time *LOSE LOSE LOSE* your mind *CAN’T CAN’T CAN’T* rewind and go back to be that same… Same person, the skilled and witty, ever-so-right and meaningful metaphor -proud and pithy- for who I am supposed to be. What are you worth?

Keeping The Faith- 4/30/2008

Inspired by this quote: “Hope begins in the dark; the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.” -Anne Lamott, Author Keeping The Faith By Jaden Brulotte 4-30-08 What gives you the strength to keep walking? It’s been days, wandering this darkness Waiting to see a shine through, a pinprick of hope testing fate’s waters wondering when karma kicks in… Faith is a hard thing to grasp. Why do you keep on keeping on, as they say when your time fades away and you still can’t see through the mire watching for the thinnest wire, the tiniest sliver of sunshine- judging your odds, you punch through the blackness creeping along, working your way but no, not today… When will your sunrise come? Your faith is a hard thing to grasp. I believe, but I wonder Is the “right” thing ever wrong? I have been trying so long, trusting my instincts Grazing through life, picking up trinkets here and pieces there Wai
